I don't need to tell you about The Charlatans, surely? The band that the phrase 'Indie stalwarts' was invented for. Couple of singles for you here. North Country Boy was a double a-side of sorts, with Area 51, which is an instrumental off the album (Tellin' Stories). This was at their commercial peak, and this single reached number 4 in the UK chart, back when that meant something. 'Don't Need A Gun' was a worthy b-side to this cracking a-side.

Next up is the title track from the album, which didn't chart quite so high, but has a couple more new songs on it. Again, a great single - I think better than 'North Country Boy', but it's a close call.
